About the DJ

WELCOME TO THE NEW YEAR, 2001!!
We've compiled some of the more popular questions you should ask of a dj service to help select a professional, quality service. If you are hiring a disc jockey for the first time, thank you for considering us. Whether youdecide on our services or not, we hope the following information will help guide you to a choosing the best dj for you. We encourage you to call us with your questions at 917-721-6271.

What makes a great disc jockey stand apart from all the rest?
DJ "O"A quality disc jockey service takes the time necessary to plan, execute, and deliver professional entertainment to your party. A disc jockey service with 6000 watts of power is nothing if they can't work with you to make your event a success.

What should I look for in a disc jockey service?
A professional disc jockey service will be willing to meet with you to discuss your party, wedding, school dance, or corporate function. A disc jockey will also be registered as a business in their state, carry liability and/or property insurance, be able to provide at least 3 references, and provide a contract to protect your rights.

How will I know if the disc jockey is right for my party?
The truth is that you don't necessarily know. The best disc jockey can play all of the greatest hits, but it's like pulling teeth to get people to dance. All parties are different, but the disc jockey should recognize this and program accordingly. However, never book a disc jockey that you don't feel comfortable with. Always ask around for references on the services. Also be sure that the disc jockey you see or speak to is the one you get.
You don't need a disc jockey who only does club work scratching records at your wedding.

Why should I choose High Impact DJs?
DJ "Ede"We offer personal services including free consultations. We don't have any hidden extras and don't charge for silly things such as additional microphones or backup equipment. We offer a wide variety of different packages for your wedding, school dance, corporate event or party to keep guests partying all night long. We offer backup equipment in the unlikely event anything should fail.

How do I know if the disc jockey service has the music I am looking for?
Simply put, ask them! A professional disc jockey service will have at least their top 200 songs available for you to see their diversity when it comes to music. Other services have a diverse music selection of over 5000 songs to choose from. Although most services welcome music requests, we recommend against outlining all of the music to be programmed throughout the event. You are paying the disc jockey to read the crowd and program which songs will fit best and when. If a service doesn't have Frank Sinatra, the Village People, Shania Twain, "The Electric Slide/Boogie", Celine Dion, and other basics, you might wish to reconsider your decision.

Is the disc jockey experienced?
As outlined above, a club dj isn't necessarily cut out to do your wedding. Likewise, a companyDJ Sloo' Motion & DJ Rob Rest that advertises "20 years experience" might very well be in business for 20 years, but will they send a dj with that amount of experience? Be cautious about the disc jockey services that choose to brag about the number of lighting effects they own, how many watts their amps are, or how many events they do. Be more attentive to the satisfied customers and references. The number of events might indicate a successful service, but check to see how many events your disc jockey has done, how often s/he is recommended, and what customers have to say. A dj service advertising 6000 watts of power is trying to sell you with sound alone. Ask about their experience. Also be aware that there is a significant difference between working for people as a "crew" and actually performing the duties of a professional disc jockey.

Can I see you perform live at an event?
While some DJ's do allow potential clients to come to the events where they are performing, we do not. Would YOU want strangers showing up at YOUR event? Would YOU want your DJ to be taking time away from YOUR event to try and sell his/her next booking to people you do not know? We believe it is in the best interests of rofessionalism and courtesy to our clients to guarantee that their wedding or party remains a PRIVATE event. We will happily supply you with as many references as you wish from our client list. That way, you can talk personally with people who have seen us perform and know first hand how we handle our events. In fact, you can read some of our Client Comments for yourself right here on our web site! And if you'd like references, all you have to do is ask!

I've found my disc jockey service, what now?
Congratulations! Now that you've made an educated decision, make sure you get a contract and read all the terms carefully. Pay attention the cancellation clause. Many dj services require a deposit or reservation fee to secure the date. This is a common practice, but if you are concerned you might wish to ask if you can get it back or at least have it applied to future functions. Many services will not refund your deposit after a set number of days. This is due to the fact that they might have already turned down other paying jobs thinking they were going to do yours. You might consider meeting with your disc jockey or at least have a formal discussion about your event via telephone to go over details.
